Sperimentare,
questa è la parola chiave che meglio descrive i Makako Jump. Dal 2002 al 2012 i
Makako Jump hanno attraversato e sviscerato ogni sfumatura della musica in
levare.
Questa
peculiarità e il loro innato spirito d’avventura li ha portati a suonare più di
500 concerti dalla Sicilia al Mar Baltico nei festival (e non solo) più
importanti del vecchio continente tra cui:
Primo
Maggio, Sziget Festival, Rototom Sunsplash, Overjam Reggae Festival, Soca
Riversplash Fete de la Musique
di Berlino fino al BIG EVENT del 2013, l’apertura per gli storici UB40 a
Spalato (Croazia).
Ripercorriamo
il loro ricco percorso discografico:
2004 il primo EP MAKAKO
JUMP, prodotto grazie alla lungimiranza dello storico sassofonista
triestino Edi Meola, è la culla del mitico singolo MARI-O (canzone che ha
ispirato il primo fan club e vincitrice del Tim Tour, tappa di Catanzaro)
2006, esce il primo LP, MI QUESO ES TU QUESO, disco ska dai “colori” verdi e gialli che
risalta la natura ironica dei giovani (ancora) Makaki.
2008, il disco LASCIATE
LA MANCIA AL
PORTAPIZZE strizza l’occhio al pop e al new reggae, risultato della crescita artistica,
compositiva e di arrangiamenti, grazie alle numerose date in tutta Europa e
all’apporto di una sezione fiati potente e compatta.
La
sortita di LorE nello stesso anno, main vocalist e show man della band, lascia
un profondo vuoto che richiede un cambiamento radicale.

Experimentation is the
keyword that best describes the band Makako Jump: from 2002 to 2012 they have
dissected every nuance of upbeat music.
This peculiarity and their
innate spirit of adventure has led them to play over 500 concerts, from Sicily
to the Baltic Sea, at every (not only) major European festival including:
Primo Maggio in Rome,
Sziget Festival, Rototom Sunsplash, Overjam Reggae Festival, Soča Riversplash,
Fête de la Musique
in Berlin and the 2013 BIG EVENT, i.e. the opening concert of the legendary
UB40 in Split (Croatia).
Let's have a look at their
numerous albums:
2004 - the band
releases the first EP, MAKAKO JUMP, produced by the saxophonist Edi Meola, is the
birthplace of the legendary single MARI-O that inspired the band's first fan
club and won the Tim Tour in Catanzaro.
2006 - the band
releases the first LP, MI QUESO ES TU
QUESO, a »red, gold and green« ska album that exposes the ironic nature of
the (still) young members of the band.
2008 - the new album
LASCIATE LA MANCIA AL PORTAPIZZE
approaches pop music and new reggae, as a result of the artistic growth of the
band, its numerous concerts throughout Europe and the contribution of a
powerful and compact horn section.
In the same year the lead
vocalist and show man LorE quits the band leaving a deep void that requires
radical changes.
But Makaki are still
searching for new horizons to explore. They produce 2 studio EPs, which
represent their artistic transition to a higher level: BIGLIE SPAZIALI (2010) and LIVE
IN RADIO KOPER (2011).
